An exciting, violent, and funny adventure. I'm not a frequent comics or fantasy reader but I was attracted by the story and then really impressed by the art. Definitely looking forward to volume 2.

Gillen is so good with character, pacing, and dramatic tension. The premise of an undead King Arthur as the villain is so smart. The monster-hunting grandmother is a real firecracker.
The art is this book is so gorgeous. It's incredibly realistic but the colors are richer, more vivid.
It‘s not pictured but the tagged book was definitely one of my favorite reads in June. 21 books in total. Jemisin is THE BEST and I‘ve loved everything of hers that I‘ve read including this fabulous short story collection. Scalzi is always entertaining, Thrawn is not only a good Star Wars book, but also a straight up entertaining story. Heartstopper is delightful. The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas is a fascinating & entertaining read.
In a word...brilliant. A rip-roaring, laugh out loud adventure steeped in myth & fueled by a monster hunting granny. That‘s right—a monster hunting, gun toting granny & her grandson (who is about to learn many family secrets). The action starts with the discovery of an ancient artifact, continues with the return of King Arthur & then keeps on going. Great writing & fantastic art throughout. Love the cover gallery & I can‘t wait to read more!❤️🗡❤️
Made a trip to Chicago Comics today. They are only doing curbside pickup right now—they hope to fully reopen this weekend—but new comics are arriving and it‘s a wonderful thing. Once & Future was just nominated for an Eisner for Best New Series so I decided to take a look. Wonder Woman because the variant covers are THE BEST!!! Far Sector #6 (Jemisin is always excellent), Alienated #3, Mercy #2 and the launch of a new Doctor Aphra run.
Just finished this off.
I passed on buying this in singles every month - but after reading this first volume I kinda wished I hadn't. It was a lot more 'actiony' than I thought it was going to be.
It's a modern story of a quest to reclaim Excalibur and has one of the most kick-ass grandmas around!
Definitely a lot of fun. 🤘
