⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5
I am currently reading this novel, which I can‘t put down. It‘s about a boy named David with CF (cystic fibrosis) and a girl named Jamie that just has recovered from depression. Jamie volunteers at the hospital David stays at. Jamie wants to tell David what happened last spring and David thinks he‘s going to die.
This was a much better written version of the infamous “If I Stay” (which I absolutely DETESTED when I read it, many, many moons ago). The conversation around depression was especially empathetic. The characters were interesting, their conversations lively. I‘m not going to shout about this one from the rooftops, but it was a sweet, poignant read. ★★★☆☆.
McGovern is great at these heartfelt ya modern romances
This book reminded me a lot of Five Feet Apart and The Fault in Our Stars. David has CF and is in the hospital. When he meet Jamie he is kind of down as his health is going down hill. He sees her as a ray of sunshine. But when they leave the hospital without the hospital knowing and it goes really bad Jamie doesn‘t know if David will make it. Will they still be friend or maybe even more! This book gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings!
If you like tear jerkers like A Fault in Our Stars then this one is for you.
