Harmonicas, Harps and Heavy Breathers
Harmonicas, Harps and Heavy Breathers: The Evolution of the People's Instrument | Kim Field
4 posts
The harmonica is one of the most important, yet overlooked, instruments in music. This definitive volume celebrates the history of the world's most popular musical device, its impact on various forms of music, folk, country, blues, rock, jazz and classical music. The author traces the development of the harmonica from the ancient Chinese sheng to futuristic harmonica sythesizers. Nearly seventy harmonica masters are profiled including Stevie Wonder, Little Walter, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Reed, Charlie McCoy, Sonny Terry, and John Popper. This updated edition includes an extensive new afterword, an expanded discography of the finest harmonica recordings, and a listing of the best harmonica resources on the internet.

@MrBook Toots Tielmans is in the book I borrowed from the library! Never heard of him before. And I'm sorry to say that he died in 2016.

MrBook Very cool! Yeah, the legend has left the building 😩😔. Never saw anyone else have such mastery over a musical instrument. 🤩 5y
Fridameetslucy I have a cd of his outtakes and rehearsals- totally amazing ... and he considered them to be warm ups! 5y

#BookNBooze is that a hashtag? Well now it is!
Finally can use my beer cooler again, as I'm drinking a small 0,33 litre beer (the normal half litre bottle doesn't fit unfortunately). Thanks again @ItsAngel

ItsAngel Oh yay!! I‘m so glad you can use it 😬 A lot of our beer here is in a can so we use koozies. 🍺 🍻 5y

And started this one, too! It's written well. Finished the history of the harmonica chapter, now the interesting stuff begins!
