From the streets of Manhattan to Paris, a poignant memoir explains a series of ingenious and farfetched attempts to survive on next to no money, showing both the humor and desperation of being a "have not." Reprint. 15,000 first printing.

Pickpick

The best memoir by an author I have ever read. My edition included an early play, a pseudonymously published detective novel by Auster, and a baseball card game he created. A remarkable chronicle of early failure and a beacon of hope to struggling writers. Essential reading.
