A friend shared this with me and now we‘ve challenged each other to read as many books as possible that feature a pig.

So far, I have mostly picture books (see tagged) plus Charlotte‘s Web, Babe, Animal Farm, and Lord of the Flies (because I‘m funny like that).

With the nibling down with a broken foot for the past little while, we‘ve been doing a lot of sit down games, and rereading of some of my childhood faves. 😂

This MF story is a different take on if you give a mouse a cookie. It is a silly book which talks about the causes of things that happen. This book is a great option for a read aloud. I ran an If You Give a Pig a Pancake storytime at the library tonight! 🐷🥞 There were books, songs, activities, a character costume, and we served pancakes! Mmmm! 😋 It was tiring, but SO MUCH fun! 💕📚 #librarylove #librariansoflitsy

I will definitely have this book in my classroom. It was one of my favorites growing up and I think the children will enjoy it. The pictures are super cute and the story is exciting to see what the pig will want next.

If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff, 1998. This book is one of my all time favorites! The story is about a little pig who gets reminding of things she wants to do. The illustrations are so cute. Each page makes me smile and the little pig is so cute. The colors are bright and pop.

This book is awesome and provides a cute story to the children! The illustrations are amazing and the fact that there are so many variations of these type of stories also is very awesome! I can‘t wait to read this!

“If You Give a Pig a Pancake” was written by Laura Numeroff in 1998. This book is my absolute favorite because of the adorable illustrations and the minimal words used to describe the scene. The pictures say a thousand words. I can‘t wait to read this book to my classroom!

I was plagued trying to remember a specific book from my childhood so after fruitless online searching I pulled out a box of my childhood books and found these little literary trips down memory lane. (More pics to follow!)

If you give a pig a pancake by Laura Numeroff illustrates by Felicia Bond is a hilarious story about a pig that is all over the place changing what she wants every minute but coming back to the same ending as when she started. I would use this as storytelling, like I did in class. The students could create a circle and fill in the blanks for each thing the pig does. This book is fantasy because obviously pigs don‘t eat pancakes and hang wallpaper.

I had promised Ezekiel that we would go Build-A-Bear after school today but that obviously didn‘t happen. So instead of spending $7 on 2 stuffed animals I took the goobers to the bookstore and spent &50 instead. 😳💖 #Zeek #raisingreaders

This is a sweet F book was a New York Times Best Seller that I would use as a RA to introduce sequence of events in a text for younger classrooms (K-1). I would expand this lesson to have students write their own If you give a ____ a ____ stories. This story follows the day of a girl and her pig friend. The girl spends her day trying to accommodate a pig who finds she needs one thing after the other. #UCFLAE3414SP18

This book is perfect for an AS of Laura Numeroff, because you can teach the students how she tends to write many books that contain a circular story, thus beginning a lesson on what circular story means. A UDL strategy is 6.2 (support planning and strategy development).

Read this book with my son last night (love this series!), and then he ordered this for brunch today! Piggy pancakes!
