Brady loves life on the Chesapeake Bay with his friends J.T. and Digger. But developers and rich families are moving into the area, and while Brady befriends some of them, like the DiAngelos, his parents and friends are bitter about the changes. Tragedy strikes when the DiAngelos’ kayak overturns in the bay, and Brady wonders if it was more than an accident. Soon, Brady discovers the terrible truth behind the kayak’s sinking, and it will change the lives of those he loves forever. Priscilla Cummings deftly weaves a suspenseful tale of three teenagers caught in a wicked web of deception.

Mehso-so

This book made me anxious! It‘s about doing the right thing, even if it‘s the hard thing to do. For a YA book, it was sad but has a good lesson. I loved that it takes place where I live and I didn‘t realize the author lives 20 minutes or so from me, so yay for local authors! It‘s a so-so for me because it didn‘t feel unique, and too much like a lesson for teens to learn from.

Pickpick

Great young adult fiction book where the main character goes through a traumatic event in the beginning of the story that leaves him traumatized wondering if he should‘ve warned who was in the red kayak. As the story goes on he is forced to make decisions that not only impact his life but also the future of his friends. http://www.storyboardthat.com/teacher-guide/red-kayak-by-priscilla-cummings #ucfwalterslit

Grandpa brought this book home from the swap box at the library. I read it. Then my daughter read it. Now my son is reading it.
