The Serpent Slayer: And Other Stories of Strong Women | 
I've been reading this to the little book dragon. Overall a great collection, though I don't care for a couple of the stories. Some feisty females, about the right length for bedtime reading. I wish there were notes with each story, at least identifying country of origin or something, though. Hope we can finish it before it's due at the library Friday.
