A dinosaur detective in the land of unwanted ideas battles trauma, anxiety, and the first serial killer of imaginary friends. Most ideas fade away when were done with them. Some we love enough to become Real. But what about the ones we love, and walk away from? Tippy the triceratops was once a little girls imaginary friend, a dinosaur detective who could help her make sense of the world. But when her father died, Tippy fell into the Stillreal, the underbelly of the Imagination, where discarded ideas go when theyre too Real to disappear. Now, he passes time doing detective work for other unwanted ideas until Tippy runs into The Man in the Coat, a nightmare monster who can do the impossible: kill an idea permanently. Now Tippy must overcome his own trauma and solve the case, before theres nothing left but imaginary corpses. Combine Vimes, Woody, Dresden, all living in the land of misfit Toys & you might get a distilled version of this Friends-verse.

Tippy the x-imaginary friend. A stuffed triceratops detective.

Someone or something is killing these x-imaginary friends.

We get to meet a bunch of interesting friends and ride along as Tippy catches his man, the tea time man, a terrible kidnapping father.

Sad, lush, a certain depth, a story with a moral!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good morning, readers! I‘m getting ready to read what will probably be my last book of the readathon. It‘s about a dinosaur detective. He‘s a triceratops who investigates a serial killer! The summary sounded so wild, I just had to have it. Hope you‘re having a great morning. I‘ll see you all at the finish line. 🦖- @Liberty

There was a time in my life when I had more appropriate dinosaurs lying around, but alas, that time is over.

I have some stylistic gripes with this book--too many chapters ending on a one-liner, present tense makes me a little dizzy after a while--and I found some of the character motivations more simplistic than I think they were meant to be, but it was a fun read with interesting underlying concepts and I am more picky than average, so.

As the back of the book says, this is Toy Story meets Sin City. A plush triceratops detective must solve a case about someone that can kill ideas, hence imaginary corpses. Worth the read, if that sort of thing piques your interest.

I am determined to enjoy the urban fantasy detective noir genre but a solid chunk of it sucks. This is supposed to be Toy Story meets Sin City but the blurb makes me think vaguely of that shit Pitt movie Cool World so woo let‘s find out \o/
