An Untimely Frost | 
Everyone seems to love this, but I had some issues. She seemed pretty dense at times, and I didn't like the ending (well, who helped who) at all. Too much deus ex machina for me. Too romancy at times also. But I can see why others really enjoyed it, as it was well written.
pickFirst in series, Lilly is a young actress in 1880s Chicago who decides to become one of the few female Pinkertons to fight for women who have been mistreated/underrepresented (her mother was murdered by her lover, and Lilly‘s new husband absconded with her life savings). I enjoyed Lilly‘s spunk and tenacity and am already reading number 2. (tw: dark villain(s)). Don‘t want to give away too much. 4.25/5⭐️

pickA great mystery. Very action packed. I loved Lilly. I love that she is well before her time. She is strong and courageous and doing something very very few women were doing in that time period. She's definitely one of my favorite characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Her first case is tracking down a preacher who stole from his congregation. Plenty of secrets are revealed. This is a solid mystery with minimal violence
