This book is sad. I had the same internal struggles reading it as the author did writing it.

Many of these young people have been horribly abused by family or others before going to the streets. We need to do better. We need to fund resources for counseling and addiction treatment.

The other part talks to a street kid who murdered two people. There is no excuse for murder, but like the author, I was alternately sympathetic and afraid of him. 4⭐️

Cinfhen It was a reminder of how much I take for granted / there are lots of kids who have horrible horrible lives and suffer terrible abuse & neglect. We need a better system in place 💔 5y

Megabooks @Cinfhen exactly, it broke my heart at the end when they said Christian‘s program had its funding cut. It‘s just terribly sad how much the safety net has never been there/been taken away from the most vulnerable people. Surely we can do better! 5y
