As much a portrait of the pursuit of wealth & influence as it is the story of Leo Koretz who swindled millions (comparable to Madoff‘s more recent crimes in scale) from Chicago elites in the 1920s, this book is a fascinating tale of greed, womanizing, largess, audacity, & possible death by chocolate—yes I wrote that! Though largely forgotten, Koretz‘s crimes make Ponzi‘s, whose name/schemes are far more well known, pale in comparison. Recommended.
