Saint Patrick's Day joy! Charm and good voices. A shout out to Vancouver Island, one of the loveliest and most adventurous places, full of characters.

What a delightful, charming, funny book about an odd bunch of characters (an utterly optimistic back to the lander woman, a grumpy but heart of gold senior man, a 21 year old sober metal lover, and a nerdy 11-year-old kid who wants to be a farmer)--a found family--living together on a farm on Vancouver Island. At once wholesome and tackling some serious issues, like parental neglect. Juby did an amazing job with the unique character voices.

Tea and a book in front of the fire this morning. So far it is wholesome and charming and funny (the book, that is).

Ever since I read Susan Juby's The Woefield Poultry Collection I have wanted to return to Woefield Farm. Well, I just did! Laugh out loud. Slap stick comedy sketches. A cast of characters you really want to meet. Juby is well deserved of her Leacock Medal for this book. A fun summer read.
