Sometimes it's good to be bad... Charmed is the exciting sequel to the wildly popular Flunked second in the brand new Fairy Tale Reform School series where the teachers are (former) villains. "Charming fairy-tale fun." Sarah Mlynowski, author of the New York Times bestselling Whatever After series. It takes a (mostly) reformed thief to catch a spy. Which is why Gilly Cobbler, Enchantasia's most notorious pickpocket, volunteers to stay locked up at Fairy Tale Reform School...indefinitely. Gilly and her friends may have defeated the Evil Queen and become reluctant heroes, but the battle for Enchantasia has just begun. Alva, aka The Wicked One who cursed Sleeping Beauty, has declared war on the Princesses, and she wants the students of Fairy Tale Reform School to join her. As her criminal classmates give in to temptation, Gilly goes undercover as a Royal Lady in Waiting (don't laugh) to unmask a spy...before the mole can hand Alva the keys to the kingdom. Her parents think Gilly the Hero is completely reformed, but sometimes you have to get your hands dirty. Sometimes it's good to be bad... Praise for Fairy Tale Reform School: Flunked "Fairy Tale Reform School has a clever concept and a fresh and funny take on the enchanted world. (I always wanted to know what happened to Cinderella's stepmother too!)"-Julia DeVillers, author of the Liberty Porter, First Daughter series and co-author of the Trading Faces series "Spell-binding and wickedly clever."-Leslie Margolis, author of the Annabelle Unleashed novels and the Maggie Brooklyn mysteries

Mehso-so

A cute follow-up sequel, but a bit more predictable than the initial installment. The characters are fun & whimsical & there is a more exploration into the world, but the development is not as meticulous as in Flunked. The friend group is fun & the teacher characters are interesting, I just wish there would have been a bit of a faster pace, higher stakes, & a more complex story line. Still, I had a good time reading & will continue the series.

Charmed is the second book in the Fairytale Reform School series. This series is Perfect for middle grade readers. The ending has enough resolution to satisfy the reader and yet there is enough suspense and a bit of a cliffhanger that will entice them to continue reading the series.

As Gilly‘s adventures continue, she continues to make a splash in the kingdom thwarting evil fairies and storybook villains, catching the eye of royalty and commoners alike. Making new friends and discovering new plots, Gilly even takes on a princess or two in this one!

I have done no reading this 4 day weekend because I‘ve been watching Charmed on Netflix.

I loved this show growing up and was so excited when I saw Netflix added the complete series.

ReadingVampire They rebooted it... I wonder how the new one holds up? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
That-Bookish-Hiker @Puredragonstar I‘ve watched the new one and it‘s good. I will always love the original though. 6y

I loved this book! It was a great follow up to Flunked. I loved all the characters and how they were taken from their fairy tales and were put together in Reform School!!

Currently reading. Part of me feels silly posting this as a woman in her 30s reading middle grade fiction, but I also enjoy animated movies and carry around a Strawberry Shortcake tote so why not.

TheNextBook No judgement here. Read whatever you want and for the record Strawberry Shortcake is amazing. 8y
jojoandthemoon Strawberry Shortcake for life! 😎 8y
Madeline Middle Grade and YA are among my favorites, too. I'm almost 40! 8y

LauraBrook I agree! Strawberry & Co rule! And I still read picture books and middle grade on the regular and I'm in my 30s too - a good book is a good book! 8y
BarbaraJean Late 30s over here & I love kids' books! Over the summer, I was reading Rick Riordan's Heroes of Olympus & was desperate to get the next book. My library said it was on the shelf... but it wasn't. I shame-facedly went to the children's librarian, confessed my obsession, said I knew it was a kids' book... but could she check in the back for me? She said "Of course! You HAVE to have the next book!" Then she invited me to their Harry Potter Day. ? 8y
BookishShelly @TheNextBook @jojoandthemoon @LauraBrook I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who loves Strawberry Shortcake! 8y
BookishShelly @Madeline for some reason I don't feel embarrassed to read YA, just middle grade, though less embarrassed now. 8y
RanaElizabeth Middle-grade is what I reach for when I've had a rough day, in a reading slump, or if it's a day ending in y. No shame, no matter your book choice. 8y
Autumn I love middle grade fiction! 8y
Peddler410 So, I'm 44 and most of what I read is middle grade or YA. True, I'm a middle school librarian but that only makes people accept my reading choices without wondering. Don't tell anyone, but those would be my choices even if I wasn't a librarian! 8y
