Not getting a lot of reading done but I‘ve been learning a lot about fleece. #knittersofLitsy

Valink Will you be spinning this? I‘ve done very little spinning since I got a dog a few years ago & I miss it! 5y
Lindy @Valink My sister is the spinner in the family. She has offered to teach me sometime soon. 5y

25 different colours from one dye bath (brazilwood), by using a variety of mordants and modifiers. I had a lot of fun today. The directions for this project are in tagged book.

ValerieAndBooks Wow that‘s gorgeous 😍! What do you plan to do with this? 5y

Lindy @ValerieAndBooks Each tiny skein is numbered, so I can use these as a reference colour chart for future dyeing projects (which combo of mordant and modifier for a particular colour). 5y
Lindy @saresmoore It‘s like magic seeing these different shades come out of the dye bath. Our whole class found it exciting. 5y

I will be in this room all day for a natural dyes workshop. I will try to stop myself from wondering if they meant to say material instead of materiel on this sign.

ValerieAndBooks Even though materiel is a word — military materials— you hope there‘s no bombs in there 🤞. Natural dyeing class sounds like fun! 5y
tournevis It's a bilingual sign? 5y
Lindy @tournevis Not intentionally. 5y
Lindy @ValerieAndBooks It‘s been fun so far, and the real colours are about to start, now that we are back from lunch. 😊 5y
tournevis @Lindy Of course not. 5y

Pickpick

I picked up this because I will be taking a workshop next week based on Jenny Dean‘s method of getting 25 colours from one dye bath. It sounds like magic, doesn‘t it? It‘s amazing what a difference mordants and modifiers can make. An excellent, informative resource book.

jchawkins I need to get my hands on this book! The last time I tried natural dyeing it was a disaster 😂 6y
Lindy @jchawkins I learned in this book that there are many routes to disaster. 😉 6y
