I read this over and over again as a kid (and still have my battered and yellowed copy). I saw myself in Sally; I loved her imagination and her way of looking at the world. Judy Blume is the queen of taking tough issues and making them accessible for younger readers. I think I read that this is her most autobiographical novel ♥️ #adventrecommends @emilyrose_x

TheBookHippie @CBee It was incredibly hard to find a book where the mom wasn't well a mom and this book soothed me as it was my Bubbe, Grandma that saved me. My dads mum thought not my moms mother. My mother was much worse than portrayed here but it was enough. 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 2y

dabbe One of my childhood faves, too. My favorite of hers was IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. I read it the summer my parents got divorced, and it got me through it. Then came FOREVER in 6th grade. My friend Leslie had all the “sex“ parts highlighted in yellow and flagged, and we passed it around during class. Mr. Gaio never knew, bless his heart! 2y
