Wow. I think that adults might get more out of this one than the kids will. I won't say it's not for all ages, it's talking about important 😉 ideas that kids should encounter, but maybe parents want to read it with them to be there if there are questions? I like what it said and how it said it. No canonizing of the great author, just some moments, less moralizing than presenting. And the art 😍. I have another illustrator to investigate.

5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 This book is hard to describe. It is about the author Margaret Wise Brown, but it is not a biography. It‘s about the fact that she wrote a book that was not liked by the main lady at the New York Public Library, but that it still exists in our modern lexicon because she believed that children deserved weird little books.

Feels like this is written for adult fans of Margaret Wise Brown. It's a fanciful biography not meant to give a linear account of MWB's life. A strange story, by its own admission. This next bit is oddly specific but... (continued in next comment) #dw2020reads #campreadalot2020

cozypunk ... If / when, I read this to kids, I'll divided it into 3 parts: p1-19, p18-47, and p34-42 followed by a MWB book or two. These are not natural dividing points, but I feel like these 3 sections could make a good series of short stories. There's enough foreshadowing and callbacks to keep the 3 connected. 5y

The mind of Mac Barnett tops chocolate lava cake and that shouldn‘t be possible. He catches me by surprise. He creates delightful moments in his books that expand possibility. His new collaboration with Sarah Jacoby (whose illustrations I hope will invade my dreams) is such a treasure that I don‘t even mind that a librarian is the villain (the librarian did make the wrong call). Please read and enjoy even if you are an adult at heart. #nochill
