The Late, Lamented Molly Marx
The Late, Lamented Molly Marx: A Novel | Sally Koslow
3 posts | 6 read | 6 to read
BONUS: This edition contains a The Late, Lamented Molly Marx discussion guide and an excerpt from Sally Koslow's With Friends Like These. The circumstances of Molly Marx’s death may be suspicious, but she hasn’t lost her sense of humor. Newly arrived in the hereafter, aka the Duration, Molly discovers that she can still keep tabs on those she left behind: Annabel, her beloved four-year-old daughter; Lucy, her combustible twin sister; Kitty, her piece-of-work mother-in-law; Brie, her beautiful and steadfast best friend; and of course her husband, Barry, a plastic surgeon with more than a professional interest in many of his female patients. As the police question Molly’s circle of intimates about the circumstances of her death, Molly relives the years and days that led up to her sudden end—and takes responsibility for her choices in life. Exploring the bonds of motherhood, marriage, and friendship, and narrated by a memorable and endearing character, The Late, Lamented Molly Marx is a hilarious, deeply moving, and thought-provoking novel that is part mystery, part love story, and all heart.

We join 35 year old Molly Marx as she provides commentary on her own funeral. We find out she has a three year old she adores, a plastic surgeon husband with more than a wandering eye and a high maintenance MIL ...and her death wasn't an accident.
Molly follows the lives of her family and friends in order to work out what exactly happened to her and we piece together her story along the way.
I really enjoyed the humor and heart in this story.

Dulcinella Great review! Make me feel like putting it high on tbr list:-) 7y
Linsy I had never heard of this, but you‘re review made me stack it! I‘ve been living off of humorous reads lately. 7y
kyraleseberg @Dulcinella @Linsy It was a light read- some tough moments (when she thinks of her daughter growing up without her), but all in all, the humor and honesty are excellent. I could definitely see them making this into a movie. 7y

This sounds like a light read, which I'm in need of after some heavy reads. #DollarTreeFind

nomadreader I remember liking this one, but I read it awhile ago. Enjoy! 7y
kyraleseberg @nomadreader I'm half way in and it's more entertaining than I expected. Would definitely make a great "chick flick" ? 7y

I just started this book and I already love it! The spin of our narrator being dead is not like anything I've ever read.
