Was going to post a book I‘ve talked about before and then saw some touristy posts - so darn it - I‘m joining in. There are no real castles in New Zealand so this was my first “fake” castle which i saw at 10yo. Larnach Castle built in 1871, in England would barely be a grand house 😂 Still I loved the narrow spiral stairs up into its turret and imagined ghostly dancers in its deserted ballroom.

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I remember visiting this place when I was in New Zealand! 6y
Centique @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian oh! Yay 💕Hope you enjoyed it - not much on other countries stately homes but it‘s a pretty spot. 6y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @Centique I remember it being very pretty. 😀 6y

elkeOriginal And the Alice in Wonderland themed garden bits! Loved it. It‘s a castle for sure 🏰 6y
Centique @elkeo_TheBookDragon YES! Great memory. When did you visit? 6y
elkeOriginal I‘ve been to NZ twice - Larnach was part of my first trip in 2004. I love both islands but the South island speaks to me a tad more💕 Hope to go back again someday! 6y
Centique @elkeo_TheBookDragon oh I totally agree with you! I‘m always recommending overseas guests spend more time in the South Island. There‘s so much beauty there, especially in the wilder places. Hope you get to visit again! 6y
