The blurb on the cover says that Deaton has a rare talent for metaphor and this is acutely true. The longer I read this, the more I appreciated his ability to build and layer unexpected metaphors. That being said, it‘s best read in short bursts as the near-constant metaphors get wearisome.

Only did an hour of reading tonight but at least I finally got through A Light in the Attic without falling asleep. #24b42020
