Well this one ripped my heart out. End of WWII in Paris told in 3rd person narrative by a 4 yr old girl who's POW father she's never met in coming home from many years in a gulag.
Her confusion about this man she doesn't know, the secret she's not to tell and does and the ramifications of that telling.

A 'quiet' book - seen through the eyes of a young girl, this book charts the changing relationships between her, her mother and her father, against a backdrop of Paris at the end of the Second World War. Gripping and beautiful.
