Used and Rare: Travels in the Book World | Nancy Goldstone, Lawrence Goldstone
7 posts | 11 read | 26 to read
Journey into the world of book collecting with the Goldstones-rediscover the joy of reading, laugh, and fall in love with books all over again. The idea that books had stories associated with them that had nothing to do with the stories inside them was new to us. We had always valued the history, the world of ideas contained between the covers of a book or, as in the case of The Night Visitor, some special personal significance. Now, for the first time, we began to appreciate that there was a history and a world of ideas embodied by the books themselves.

5 stars!! This is my second time reading this…..books are kinda dated but it so accurately describes the slow descent into collecting that can happen. If you like books about books - you‘ll like this. Reminds me of 84,Charring Cross Road.

MaGoose I loved both the tagged book and 84 Charring Cross Road, too. 🤎 6mo

Nice memoir about the authors' (a husband and wife) novice foray into book collecting. 📖 Second reading of this book for me -- one of only a handful of books 📚 I've read more than once - the only other one that I can think of is The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

I enjoyed this book PURELY for its value as reference material about collecting books and new authors to seek out. If I was the type to write in my books, I'd have scribbled notes all through it. I can not wait to receive materials that I ordered based on their suggestions. Well worth the $3.99 I paid for the hardcover on eBay.

#TBRtemptation post 6! Journey into the fascinating and rather adventurous world of book-collecting with a dynamic duo of the trade. You'll learn that books have stories attached to them that have nothing to do with the story within them. There's a world history embodied by the books themselves. A travel story, love story, and memoir, you'll tag along on a highly-acclaimed, classic, unforgettable journey you crave. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

LeslieO I loved this book! This is a much prettier copy than my little paperback. 8y
LeahBergen Ummm ... are you just sneaking in and taking photos of my shelves now? Got it! 😂 8y
