Holy crow did this one not age well. The idea for the general story wasn't a bad one, but you get the feeling Cussler has never actually met a real live woman before. I feel like he gets the idea he's being complimentary, but yeah, he definitely is not. I've read more recent Pitt books, so I wasn't going in expecting a woman to save the day or anything, but woo boy was this one misogynistic in the extreme.

lingui5t Honestly yes I can see what you mean... It was pretty off-putting, especially the scene involving Dana near the end.

Also, homewrecking swashbucklers are not exactly the easiest to root for. 10mo

RIP Clive Cussler creator of Dirk Pitt .His books were not really my reading style , but I had a boyfriend years ago who felt a new Cussler was a cause for celebration.He did many events with the Poison Pen bookstore in Scottsdale,Az .An author who was generous to his many fans.
