Most of these questions have a clear winner for me 😄
1. Mood (I never stick to plans)
2. I suppose I can bear one terrible book a month
3. Lyra!
4. A tattoo, since I already have one
5. First half, there's still 50 per cent to win me over

The world was still turning. Mom had cancer, and it was awful and scary, but there were still dinners to eat and dishes to clear and math tests to take. And this-all this talking about world-famous baked goods and eating and laughing together, just like always-was exactly how they were going to get through it. Ava couldn't imagine any other way.
When Ava finds a scratched up pencil she doodles like she would with any other pencil. But when she writes a question in the margin of her math quiz, she hears a clear answer in a voice no one else seems to hear.
Ava and her friend Sophie, discover all kinds of uses for the pencil, but it's getting shorter with every sharpening. Sometimes the bravest people are the ones who live without all the answers.

New in paperback and perfect for middle graders who like a dose of magic in a realistic story. Ava finds a "magic" pencil that'll answer any question. But she becomes kinda addicted to asking questions she shouldn't. And the more she asks, the more she has to sharpen, and the shorter it gets... ?✏️
