It doesn‘t drawn any conclusions and reads like a novel. It dispels myths. Geronimo was not the hero among his people that we think he was. The sheer number of Apaches who supported the U.S. Army ranged in the hundreds. I really liked this and learned a lot.

pickI'm filing this under "things I didnt learn about in high school" and "neglected American History". I feel like too often we think of the late 1800's and the only thing that comes to mind is the Civil War and the years that followed. There is definitely not enough attention given to what was going on in the Western front. This provides so much information about the was between Native Americans and the Americans that came to steal their land.
"I'm your Huckleberry..." ?? That's all I could think of when I read this!
This is one of those books that can easily make someone angry. This section of history seems to be overlooked because of the Civil War. Human beings were being butchered over land and the rights to it. I'm not sure if I could have been peaceful if you came to my home, told me to leave and then changed my way of life. Sigh.
When the Olympics are on but you have books to read what do you do? Put the tv on, mute it and read while ocassionaly checking the score. Litsy this is going to be my life...
