Brilliance of the Moon
Brilliance of the Moon: Tales of the Otori, Book Three | Lian Hearn
6 posts | 24 read | 3 to read
A beautiful, haunting evocation of the medieval Japan of Lian Hearn's imagination, this thrilling follow-up to Grass for His Pillow and Across the Nightingale Floor delves deeper into the complex loyalties that bind its characters from birth. Filled with adventure and surprising twists of plot and fortune, this third book in the Tales of the Otori series travels beyond the Three Countries, to the outside influences that threaten to intrude upon this isolated realm.

The Brilliance of the Moon is the third installment in the Tales of the Otori. It's an extremely satisfying story of triumph, justice, and love.

I found it progressively harder to get through these books and am glad I finished the main trilogy. I can't help but feel Takeo is an unbalanced character, and therefore found it hard to tolerate him as MC.

Finally reached the end of the trilogy! Although I found it lacked something in book 2, this final installment lived up to the captivating magic of the first book. The journey of Takeo and Kaede was unpredictable and intriguing. A fitting ending to their adventure 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was so eager, upon finishing this installment, to jump right into the next that I completely forgot to review it!! This series is, in my opinion, and instant classic, one I will no doubt re-read many times!

I seem unable to put this series down! Started the third immediately after finishing the first and second consecutively! 🤓
