I had to read this book and was expecting a terrible book based on the fact that no one had ever borrowed it, and the cover looked questionable (times like these where “don‘t judge a book by it‘s cover” hits you like a train) however, I was met by a well-written book with a good plot. Personally, I liked the idea of showing “Lord Death” as a human and as someone who — like all people — craves love and affection.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75/5

“What does it feel like to die, sir?” I asked. “It hurts — I only know that.”

We walked for some time in silence. At last he said, “It is life that hurts you, not death.”

Keturah, you see for yourself how difficult it can be to be accepted into a circle of people who consider you to be different.

This book was disappointing. At first I was thrown off by the writing style, which was in first person and modeled after a medieval style of speech. Then the characters lacked real depth throughout the story as well. I think this was a Persephone and Hades retelling (which I usually love), but there was no romantic growth or connection. They were just suddenly in love at the end with barely any interaction. There are better retellings out there.

“I was sixteen years old the day I was lost in the forest , sixteen the day I met my death.”

It was hard not to sit down and reread the entire book. #death #quotsynov17

I'm loving book so far. It's a fast read. Lord Death came for Keturah. If she can find her true love in a day. Death won't harm her. #library #litsy #booklover #goodreads #kindle #kindlefire #paperwhite #author

I think my #favoritevillain is Death. I love stories with Death as a character. In this one Keturah tries to trick Death with her charm into giving her a reprieve but of course it doesn't turn out the way she expects as Death isn't quite what she expected him to be. #riotgrams

Mcoun Have you read Death with Interruptions by Jose Saramago? 8y
Jas16 @Mcoun No but I will add it to my TBR 8y
BookishTrish I was just going to post the same thing! Love it when that happens! 8y

This seemed like an appropriately moody YA read on this friday that finally feels like fall.
