Welcome to Litsy!

The second in the Inspector Rutledge series finds Rutledge still battling his inner demons as he is sent to a case in Cornwall. Three deaths in a family, seemingly suicides and accidents, or are they? The writing style is slightly plodding, so it feels at times that the plot advancement is slow. But, I like Rutledge. He‘s very flawed and is learning how to cope with the flaws. He‘s also very methodical and organized.

I‘m calling this my final time for #deweysreadathon . I had hoped for more, but at least I got a few hours. Funnily, I‘ll have more time to read today than I did yesterday.

Thanks to @DeweysReadathon for organizing this. I‘ve been a cheerleader of sorts the last few times, and this was my first time actually participating. My time can only improve the next time!

Can finally start reading again, though I am doing laundry and will have to start and stop many, many times.

Overslept, so missed the 8am start time for #deweysreadathon . Squeezing in a few minutes of reading before I have to get ready and leave for errands. Thankfully, I can listen to audiobooks in the car! Here I go!

Could really used a Family Tree. So many husbands, children, twins, and step children that it was hard to keep them straight in my mind. I'm not really invested in the mysteries of this series, it's Ian I care about. He is such a poor troubled soul. You just want him to find peace, happiness, and someone to love. Someone with loyalty and character unlike dreadful former fiance Jean. Did I mention I really dislike her for hurting Ian?

That someone else saw and felt the things that haunted me and I never had the courage to write about even in letters home." He couldn't have said to Jean or to his sister for that matter, worldly as Frances was, what it was like to live in the nightmare of war.
