Crime and Punishment
Crime and Punishment | Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky
The poverty-stricken Raskolnikov, believing he is exempt from moral law, murders a man only to face the consequences not only from society but from his conscience, in this seminal story of justice, morality, and redemption from one of Russia's greatest novelists.

Thanks for the tag @Book_Fiend_Melissa ! 😀

Had Raskolnikov in the tagged book gotten this fortune, he would have ignored it! His downfall was due to believing that just because he COULD do an evil act, that such act was therefore permissible.

C&P is a masterpiece. Dostoyevsky takes us into the mind of Raskolnikov, meaning "schismatic," a man at war with himself over whether murder is justifiable.

erzascarletbookgasm I agree this is a masterpiece. The Karamazov Brothers is a great read too! 6y

I knew a little bit about this book and I wasn‘t sure I would like it. But, it‘s Dostoevsky, so I had to give it a shot. Wow, what a psychological trip that was! Seeing the crime and its aftermath through the eyes of the criminal provides a unique perspective.

TheAnitaAlvarez Dostoevsky is fantastic! 💙 6y

Clearing shelves today I came across my old copy (missing both front and back covers) from high school of this classic. I started reading and was instantly engrossed. Until about page 61 when Dinah said enough was enough!

Day 9 of #agameoffavorites
Possibly a required read for me in high school (that was a long time ago😂), I remember thoroughly enjoying this one. I went through a phase that I was fascinated with Russia and Siberia. The second picture was another book that stayed in my memory. Crime and Punishment was originally published in installments in a literary journal. @WhiskeyMistress @ErinSueG

Erinsuereads Have you read this one? 6y
JulAnna @ErinSueG I have! I really enjoyed it! 6y
Erinsuereads She just put out arcs for the Third one! She is so super sweet. I met her at comic con this year and hung out with her for a little bit! 6y

Crime and Punishment | Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky

My 4-month-old was awake and I wanted to read so I started reading the first chapter of 'Crime and Punishment' aloud, with exaggerated narration, and he couldn't stop gurgling and laughing. It was so funny. 📖👶😂
Off to a good start!
