I didn't hate this book as much as I expected to and Owen Jones does make some very valid points. Unfortunately, a lot of this book is exhaustive lists of who is having dinner with who and how this is terrible.

I would have appreciated more commentary and ideological discussion rather than a hectoring barrage of everything-is-awful rhetoric.

Still, 🌟🌟🌟 3 stars as lots of food for thought.

If you want to understand how the UK got to the toilet it‘s ended up in this is a really great book to read. Not explicitly about brexit but it explains all of it, really readable but doesn‘t compromise on getting a lot of material into you! I love Owen Jones, he didn‘t let me down 🥰

I have a lot of respect for Owen Jones. I loved Chavs and my friend met him and said he was lovely, and we have precious few prominent left wing people right now. Looking forward to this!

Finally finished this beast! Extremely well written and researched. Incredibly insightful! Since I have very limited knowledge of how the British parliamentary system works, this one took me awhile to get through. Very applicable to what's happening behind the scenes of the United States economy as well. Highly recommend!

I opted to veer into non-fiction land for a "change of scenery" during @24in48 . Very well written and extremely informative, this is way too dense to crack in one sitting. I'll be back to it soon enough, but now .. I to my next fiction thriller! "Rogue Male" by Geoffrey Household #24in48 #readinginfadinglight

This is my first pick for a book I'd like to read for a #brexitbooklist . Owen writes for the guardian and I loved he's other book chavs. I think this title says it all really. Also I'm really feeling sick about the May- trump meeting and the implications of any negotiations for a trade deal some of the possibilities have been a bit worrying to read about for the uk #holdtheline

Weaponxgirl @whatthelog yes hopefully 😀 I did a post a few days ago asking if anyone would be interested and saying the sort of books that I'd be interested in reading for such a list. I'm hoping to include fiction and non fiction and if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them! 😀 8y

Picked up The Establishment by Owen Jones in my #bookhaul today as well as a beautiful copy of Gentlemen of the Road by Michael Chabon and some murder and mayhem from Mark Billingham and Val McDermid.
