Welcome to Litsy!

Two women, one an organic farmer and the other her young intern, share thoughts and confidences while they're working on an organic farm. They find delight in the interdependence of permaculture and the beautiful results of hard work while getting deeper into each other's stories and souls. Together they harvest kale, mulch potatoes and plant tomatoes while fleshing out the reason for existence and why life on Earth matters. They discuss the game that all living creatures are playing, a game that has a simple objective, which is that 'everyone wins.' A game, they decide, that has only one 'rule,' which is "Do nothing to dim the light and everything in your power to strengthen it." Throughout the book their discussions encompass love, life, light, faith, depression, the consideration of suicide, permaculture, quantum physics AND soil biology. Using garden metaphors, big questions about self-worth are explored. Simple tasks like planting tomatoes take on powerful meanings about love and acceptance and recognizing your own 'light.' The uplifting message is intimately tied to the evidence any of us can see when we open our eyes: Light and dirt combined make life, and make it worthwhile."
