6 posts | 9 read | 8 to read
The sequel to the New York Times bestselling Impostors! When the world sees Frey, they think they see her twin sister Rafi. Frey was raised to be Rafi's double, and now she's taken on the role . . . without anyone else knowing. Her goal? To destroy the forces that created her. But with the world watching and a rebellion rising, Frey is forced into a detour. Suddenly she is stranded on her own in Paz, a city where many of the citizens attempt to regulate their emotions through an interface on their arms. Paz is an easy place to get lost . . . and also an easy place to lose yourself. As the city comes under a catastrophic attack, Frey must leave the shadows and enter the chaos of warfare - because there is no other way for her to find her missing sister and have her revenge against her murderous father.

Shatter City: Impostors 2 | Scott Westerfeld
Pickpick

This was a great addition to the Impostors series. Honestly, I expected the plot twist to go in a completely different direction. Also, I really want to know what‘s going on in Rafia‘s mind. Can‘t wait for the next book!

This was a filler book. It wasn‘t very interesting and not much happened. I‘m hoping I like book 3 more.

I haven‘t enjoyed this series that takes place after The Uglies as much as the first and am finding a hard time connecting with the characters. It is just not as interesting, especially the story line in which Frey becomes addicted to emotions available at the click of a button. It is unnecessary, becomes a constant distraction, and just doesn‘t really add anything. So, I leave book 2 a bit disappointed, unsure of my future with this series.

Another cover change mid series. This is the sequel to the Imposters, which is a spin off series from Uglies. I don't really like it. And it make me think of Shusterman.

Shatter City picked up right where Impostors left off. The narrative voice is completely enthralling and there is a perfect balance of action, politics, and romance. I love the focus on relationships in this series. Westerfeld also excels at world building.
