Akira is a book about people who live amongst the destruction of WW3. Throughout the book one of the main characters “Kaneda” is running from the army because he took a capsule from them. Who is looking for this capsule is the colonel and one of his old friends Tetsuo. Tetsuo isn‘t one of Kaneda‘s friends anymore because Tetsuo turned into a complete monster. I would recommend this book to people who like action. A main theme is betrayal.

This book is about 2 street wise kids Tetsuo and Kaneda who end up getting caught up in a secret government project, Kaneda tries to save Tetsuo but something happens to them before one could be saved. I recommend this book to those who like action and some mystery, as it has a lot of action as well as some big questions. A theme in this that I found could be corrupt governments as we see how terrible and ruthless they could be.

I was probably around 8-10 years old when I discovered other parts of the world had different comics than what I was getting.

This manga came out 37 years ago and is still a masterpiece! 2019 is the year the story is set in so...I can't help but wonder where my Akira bike is! I thought for sure I'd have one by now! 😕

Anywho...in honor of the 2019 setting...and just because the story is so bad ass... I'ma re-read all 6 volumes. I only own Vol. 1 and just ordered Vol. 2 and am so excited to get this collection back on my shelf again. 🤗

I own both of these graphic novels, and I absolulty fell in love! This series is a little more adult because it contains some sexual content, drug use, LOTS of language, and graphic pictures. But overall this is is a five star! 📖 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This release has returned Akira to its original state with this latest Western release. All of the covers have their original Japanese artwork, including the Japanese snippets on the inside back covers. The manga finally reads from right-to-left, as is customary in Japan, & includes all of the original hand-drawn sound effects from Otomo-san.

Tetsuo and Akira from the Japanese manga (and anime) are just like #Godzilla

They're nearly indestructible and go on rampages. Akira was responsible for the destruction of Neo- Tokyo and the start of World War III, and Tetsuo destoryed Neo-Toyko again and turned into this giant gross mass.

This series so far has been everything I need for an August read. High stakes genre fiction in the heat of the summer, with detailed art work and strong characters with the exception of Akria himself who's a wordless blob of ink on the page, but oh well.

I had the worst headache yesterday and barelly reached 6 hours... Now I'm not even sure I'll beat my last Mark of 11 hours... #24in48
About the book, it's even better than I remember the anime is! Fast paced, not a boring page! I Hope they publish the rest soon!
