There are 2 Carnegie libraries in Vermont, one in Burlington & one in Montpelier. This one is in Montpelier, the capitol city of the state. The back of the building has been renovated & is quite stunning but my phone died as I tried to take the photo. I walked around this small city yesterday and was delighted to see it was still full of long haired folks, many of them gray haired, & young hipsters. Definitely worth a visit if you haven‘t been.

DivineDiana I have a desire to visit all the Carnegie Libraries! Need to start my quest! This looks beautiful! ❤️📚❤️ 1y

This was my local Carnegie library in Carnegie, PA when I was growing up outside of Pittsburgh. Every time I am home, I go for a visit just to take in the beauty of the building and the memories it evokes. #riotgrams #mylocallibrary

RanaElizabeth Carnegie libraries are great because, duh, library. But they were also architecturally beautiful. Also! Holla! Represent 'da Burgh! 8y
Sara_Planz @RanaElizabeth so many beautiful libraries in the Pittsburgh area that were contributed by Mr. Carnegie. It was a glorious place to live and grow up in as a reader! Including the wonderful bookmobiles they had as well. I miss it so much sometimes. 8y

RanaElizabeth @Sara_Planz I used the Southside library a lot, I don't know if it was a Carnegie or not but it had an amazing fantasy section and a cool ceiling. 8y
Sara_Planz @RanaElizabeth if it was the one on East Carson St, that is definitely one. 8y
RanaElizabeth @Sara_Planz Yep, that's the one. 8y

When I was a little girl I grew up in Carnegie, PA, named after Andrew Carnegie. One of the first libraries he gifted was in my hometown and the place I spent all the time I could. Had to make a stop there to show my husband where the book love affair began.

TheWordJar Love it! My childhood library was also a Carnegie, and it was only a block away from my house. I could see it out our front window, and it was the first place my parents let me walk to alone. And I did. A lot! Loved that place. 8y
LauraBeth What a beautiful library ❤️ 8y

ReadingSusan Love it! We have a Carnegie library in our town but it was closed when I was little and just sat there empty. I was thrilled when a few years ago they reopened it as a library. 8y

Pickpick

While at times Nasaw provides too much detail regarding Carnegie's professional and public transactions and not enough about his private relationships, the author still manages to capture his subject in such a way that you feel you've met the noted industrialist and philanthropist by the time you finish the book.

This is my fun Friday photo! Just got home from a visit to my hometown Andrew Carnegie library. The Columbus, OH main library just reopened after a year of renovations. One of my favorite features was this art gallery fun of book inspired art! Very cool!
