1. I hated Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell. It‘s hard to describe but the way I would put it is that it felt so empty. The world building and the characters were just so insubstantial or maybe the word is vacant. This is dramatic but it made my skin crawl it was so awful. I‘m still mad I finished it.

2. Colleen Hoover. I wouldn‘t touch her books for anything. I can't get onboard with the abusive romance.

Bookbuyingaddict @MadelineMcCrae great questions 🙋‍♀️ I was really disappointed 😔 with How we disappeared by Jing jing Lee 😖and yet it had such rave reviews I had to dnf it ! And reminders of him by Colleen hoover 😣yuk ! Don‘t think I get on with CH books 📚 im in a world wide minority there and your with me 😂 super popular book don‘t want to read Sarah j Maas crescent city series ! 👎 (edited) 2y
RaeLovesToRead I've not tried a Colleen Hoover before. I feel like I should just because she's so crazily popular, but there are definite mixed reviews! 😅😅 2y
TheLudicReader You are 100% correct about CoHo. When I see the girls in my classes reading her I die a little inside. 2y

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego OK, now I understand all the CoHo backlash I've been seeing. I haven't read enough to realize that was an ongoing theme. 2y
Vansa Colleen Hoover was going to be my answer too!! 2y
RosePressedPages @Karons1 My coworkers at the bookstore I work at all hate CoHo but she‘s one of our top selling authors and we‘ve had to put together a table with all her books 🙃 I‘ve tried two of Sarah J Maas series and I dnf‘d pretty fast. I don‘t understand the hype at all. (edited) 2y
RosePressedPages @TheLudicReader I‘m glad I‘m not the only one who thinks so!! 2y
RosePressedPages @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego it‘s unfortunate toxic and abusive relationships keep being romanticized. It‘s unhealthy for people to believe that‘s what love looks like… (edited) 2y
BkClubCare Whoa. I wasn‘t aware that Hoover was problematic. Ty 2y

I‘ve been researching books that I could read for my #readingeurope2021 challenge and it feels like it‘s a near impossible thing to do. I am thinking of possibly doing some shortcuts and possibly use one book for many countries and using a book that takes place in Yugoslavia for some of the countries that were once part of Yugoslavia. I don‘t want to be stuck w/ books I don‘t want in the end.

melissajayne Basically I‘m not going likely finish the challenge, at least properly. 3y
