Dirty Work
Dirty Work | Larry Brown
1 post | 6 read | 1 to read
"Dirty Work" is the story of two men, strangers one white, the other black. Both were born and raised in Mississippi. Both fought in Vietnam. Both were gravely wounded. Now, twenty-two years later, the two men lie in adjacent beds in a VA hospital.Over the course of a day and a night, Walter James and Braiden Chaney talk of memories, of passions, of fate. With great vision, humor, and courage, Brown writes mostly about love in a story about the waste of war."

If we have to go this far isn‘t it time to discard the book?
I can‘t help but think some librarian wanted to save the book and some other librarian was kind of pissed and got passive aggressive about it...

Notafraidofwords Lol exactly 7y
Johanna414 Haha that's what it looks like to me. I always have people (mainly a couple teachers who are practically hoarders...) who throw fits when I weed books in our library. I don't see the point in holding on to them if they're "dirty & old" though (edited) 7y
MarriedtoMrT Ha! I‘m super pro-weeding but it‘s a struggle sometimes with others. Gotta love passive aggressive library messages. #howweroll 7y
emtobiasz One of our software services, CollectionHQ, designates books that have gone out a whole lot as "grubby". I just kind of love a professional definition of "grubby". 7y
