Judas Priest. Do yourself a favor and read this short story. It packs an absolute wallop. It lives rent-free in my head. Mrs. Mallard receives word that her husband has been killed in an accident. What follows isn't quite what you'd expect.

Kate Chopin can write some really depressing stuff ngl
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is one of those stories that just fills my brain and keeps it going over all those themes, but it is a bit simple in it's short plot (although it packs a punch) to rank as an absolute favourite.

Although short, The Story of an Hour has a lot to say about both joy and grief. What did you think about either joy or grief and the relationship between the two? #litereads
Most of our #litereads selections are longer than The Story of an Hour. What do you think of reading fiction this short compared to reading short fiction with a bit more bulk to it? Do you think the shortness impacted how you viewed the story and characters?
Our latest #litereads selection is The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, a feminist classic centered on a woman's freedom at the death of her husband. You can find sources for visual and audio reading in our post. Be sure to let us know what you think!
