Good. Set in Appalachia in the 1930s-40s. Coming of age story. Sad in parts, but not overwhelmingly depressing. Ends on a hopeful note (which makes sense because there is a series).

2020 #49. This is book 1 to the series. It made me love Becoming Clementine even more! I did audio book to this one and the narrator‘s voice is perfect.
I was hoping the would be like Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt but I‘m bored. Thinking about bailing.
I've read Jennifer Niven's more recent YA novels, so when I saw she had an older series I just had to read it. I was surprised and delighted by this historical fiction book and couldn't put it down! I'm going to try to track down the short movie she made that inspired this book!
Happy International Women's Day! 👭❤️ What female authors and/or characters are you reading today?

#SecretSantaGoesPostal #WinterSolsticeBookExchange What incredible bookish riches! I could hardly wait to get home from work today to open this! Thank you @BookishMarginalia !! Awesome! 😊
I loved Jennifer Niven's All the Bright Places. This one bored me to tears. It's a historical fiction of sorts but I have too much to read and little time. It just wasn't worth continuing. So have a picture of my #cat and #readingbuddy #catsoflitsy #Freyja
