Maple | Lori Nichols
4 posts | 6 read | 1 to read
Lori Nichols enchanting debut features an irresistible, free-spirited, nature-loving little girl who greets the changing seasons and a new sibling with arms wide open. When Maple is tiny, her parents plant a maple tree in her honor. She and her tree grow up together, and even though a tree doesnt always make an ideal playmate, it doesnt mind when Maple is in the mood to be loudwhich is often. Then Maple becomes a big sister, and finds that babies have their loud days, too. Fortunately, Maple and her beloved tree know just what the baby needs.

TIL that green maple seeds don‘t fly!

“Helicopter” season is brief but enjoyable.

My daughter has accumulated quite the little collection of #DollyPartonsImaginationLibrary books! She just got her new book for October today, which is the tagged book. Perfect timing for #Day20 's #smallbooks

She is so excited every time a new one comes!

Pickpick

The book Maple by Lori Nichols is contemporary realistic fiction book about a little girl named Maple who is named after a tree. This book is wonderful for children for children to come to terms for getting siblings and growing up. The book won the Giverny award in 2014. I would use UDL 3.1 activate it supply background knowledge. I would make sure the kids know different tree names and seasons. #ucflae3414f17

DrSpalding How wonderful you found information on scheduling an author visit. How wonderful as well that you can teach science content about trees through a realistic fiction title. Neat choice. 7y
farynantenucci This is a great topic for students to relate to and remain engaged in the story! 7y

Adorable! 🍁Maple's parents plant a tree in her honor when they're pregnant with her. She and the tree grow together, and she loves it dearly. One day, her parents plant a willow tree. 😊I love how there are so many good things packed into one little book. Growth, seasons, change, new siblings, love of nature, outdoor play... it really is a darling read. #raisingreaders
