Bailedbailed

I read 58 of 126 pages of January‘s #bookspin and while I admired the writing, I didn‘t really ‘get‘ the book…so I DNF and it is unlikely I will be picking it up again. I was so hoping for a fabulous start to the year. 😂

Here we go, #bookspin 2023!
@TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks I love the way your minimalistic covers match!! 2y
IndoorDame @TheAromaofBooks haha I was thinking exactly that! They‘re beautiful! 2y
TheLudicReader Haha, @TheAromaofBooks and @IndoorDame - that‘s a total fluke! 2y
IndoorDame @TheLudicReader I‘m excited to hear what you think of The Body Artist. I read White Noise when I was much younger and remember loving it, but I haven‘t read anything else by him 2y
TheLudicReader It‘s really short, @IndoorDame , so I should be able to share my thoughts quite soon. :-) 2y

I think these covers are cool, I like them for their simplicity. Designed by UK based illustrator Noma Bar, who also designed the black and red covers of Murakami‘s books. 🖤❤️

Mehso-so

There was a whimsical and poetic beauty to this novella, but I can't even begin to understand the deeper meaning behind it.

"What did it mean, the first time a thinking creature looked deeply into another's eyes? Did it take a hundred thousand years before this happened or was it the first thing they did, transcendingly, the thing that made them higher, make them modern, the gaze that demonstrates we are lonely in our souls?"

A fascinating story about loneliness, grief, and time. I'll have to read it a few more times in the future to fully soak it all in.

I liked this and I didn't like it. It was confusing for me. I kept wanting more! I'm going to re-read someday because I really want to love it. 105/1,001 #1001Books (I'm caught up to where I am now on the 1,001 list and I won't be flooding your feed anymore! 😊)

vivastory I can't wait to see what your next book from the list will be. 8y
AshleyHoss820 Haha! Same here! I kind of pick them at random! 8y
