#1 New York Times Bestseller An ancient relic is unearthed during an archaeological dig. A Minnesota college professor is keeping a secret that could change the worlds history as we know it. For Virgil Flowers, the link between the two is inescapableand his investigation, more dangerous and far-reaching than he can possibly imagine.

Mehso-so

Well that was slightly more absurd than previous books in the series, but a lot less violent, so I'm calling it a bonus!
Tad bit of the Da Vinci Code vibes - running around after an artifact that might reveal a truth contentious to biblical history/ religious beliefs - but mostly a high action mystery per the usual. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality On the not so fun side, the portrayals of Israeli and Lebanese people are not necessarily negative, but I'm still concerned 'own voices' reviewers would confirm my suspicions that Sanford's descriptions are not appreciated, i.e. considered shallow/stereotypical/patronizing. NOBODY needs to be told they "speak good English". 2/? 1y
Robotswithpersonality 3/3 And of course, there's the standard objectification of women floating around the edges. 🤦🏼‍♂️ As previously mentioned, if I think of these books like 80s/90s action films, they run about the same gamut of problematic/out-dated entertainment. 😬 ⚠️ Descriptions of terminal illness (late stage cancer), mentions of Alzheimer's 1y

Pickpick

Flowers is in the middle of a fraud case when he‘s told to drop everything and to help the Israelites find a stolen artifact.

Just starting... am enjoying a cool day, outside. I love books dealing with old magical (possibly) religious stuff. Crossing my fingers it‘s good.

#AprilBookShowers #Weather I have not read this book yet. My dad was a big John Sandford fan. When he passed away I inherited many of his books. It seems to fit the theme of weather…storms. Have any Littens read this. What did you think?

DGRachel I love Sandford's books. I love that he did a spin-off series for Virgil Flowers. I hope you enjoy it. 8y
Bookladylinda I haven't read any of his books and I think he has an author signing of this book in my city next week and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go, 8y
