90 Minutes in Heaven
90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death & Life | Don Piper, Cecil Murphey
7 posts | 23 read | 7 to read
As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery. For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.

I really enjoyed this book. As a Christian, I wonder what heaven will be like when I get there. As the song goes: I Can Only Imagine.

Inspirational true story of Don Piper. He was in a horrible wreck, ended up dying and spending 90 minutes in Heaven. He knows how long bc that's how long the EMT's said he was dead.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that it seemed to me too be repetitive in spots. Overall, 4.5 ⭐

I enjoyed reading about Piper's experience when he visited Heaven, but the rest of the book was filled with contradictions about his time in the hospital, frequent mentions of how much worse off he was than any of the patients he visited after his recovery, and then several paragraphs about how he doesn't believe other people who claim to have been to Heaven and then come back.

I couldn‘t resist combining today and tomorrow—#Heaven and #Hell—for #Augustisatrip, especially since I don‘t seem to have any Hell books on my shelves! I haven‘t read either of these, but when I was living in South Africa, one of my teammates received them both in a package from his mom. Apparently it was a 2-for-1 deal at the Christian bookstore. A little too on the nose, I felt. 😂🤣

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ve heard of the Heaven one, but not the one on Hell... 😈 6y

A glimpse at God's grace, mercy and compassion; a glimpse at mankind's natural heart and it was a worthy read. Reading this will bring tears, anger, laughter and revelation to your own heart.
Don's story touched my heart and gave me some hope. His recovery journey was amazing and I found myself praying for him.....IKR. I even took time to earmark a few places to remind me of God's goodness in my own life.

So my friend asked me if I saw something posted on Facebook. I actually had to ask if she meant everyone else's Facebook or mine, which is Litsy. I spend wayyyy more time on Litsy now.
