Pickpick

While I see why the few reviews I have seen don‘t completely feel this book, I greatly enjoyed it. Clash of gladiator and avatar the last airbender. Sucker for mortals against gods. I did enjoy the diverse characters. The MC each grew minutely within their parameters - Ash going against her fire god and Madoc just trying to keep his family safe. There felt like there was growth missing on a deeper level. Can‘t wait for the second of the duology

Halfway thoughts. Was expecting a gladiatorial fight the entourage book, the gods versus their gladiators trying to overthrow them. This story has so much more. Yea, Ash wants to do above, but she is finding it most difficult while Madoc appears as the son of an unknown energía god. Madoc is fighting to save his family, nothing else matters. No matter how much Ash is trying to reel him in. This is a matter of deception and murder between the gods

So we have Madoc and Ash. Madoc of the slums in his country of the earth god, and Ash in the gladiatorial arena of her fire god. So far we‘re getting a good look as to how they live differently, though they haven‘t met just yet- feels like they‘re about to. I really like how Ash is actually a dancer and sees her fire as life and beauty instead of just destruction like her god says (sound familiar?) I not sure on Madoc just yet. He‘s such an enigma

Love this cover. Thought this book would be bigger. Totally forgot about this book releasing though. And I didn‘t even realize Sara Raasch was one of the authors when I preordered it. I struggled with These Rebel Waves so I‘m kind of skeptical about this book now. But I‘ll give it a chance and see how it goes. Hopefully I enjoy it.
