5 posts | 8 read | 3 to read
An opulent London townhouse, a mummy curse . . . . . . and a plucky lady detective. It’s October, 1923, and Olive Belgrave has a new case. Her client, Lady Agnes doesn’t believe in curses, and she hires Olive to prove her Egyptologist uncle wasn’t the victim of a malevolent mummy. Olive investigates and discovers the truth is much worse—it’s murder. Can Olive debunk the curse and reveal the true culprit before the supposed curse claims another victim? The Egyptian Antiquities Murder is the third book in the High Society Lady Detective series, a historical mystery series set in 1920s England. If you enjoy lighthearted novels reminiscent of the Golden Age of detective fiction with spirited protagonists, perplexing mysteries, and atmospheric settings, you’ll love the High Society Lady Detective series from USA Today bestseller Sara Rosett. Though this is book 3 in the series, I had to begin here, as I am perpetually subject to Egyptomania.

Olive Belgrave, a gentlewoman earning her living as a private detective in 1923, is an engaging protagonist. In this one, she is hired to investigate the suicide of Lord Malvern, an Egyptologist. The historical aspects seem to be quite well researched, so it is informative on the time period, as well as an entertaining mystery.

CaramelLunacy This sounds right up my alley! 4y
mabell @CaramelLunacy It was an enjoyable cozy. I‘m trying to decide whether to go back and listen to the first two or just go on with number 4. 😆 I also need to pick back up with Amelia Peabody! I only read the first, but I loved it! 4y

Finished this audiobook last night and quite enjoyed it. Book 3 in the High Society Lady Detective series. I was fine jumping into the middle of the series but will probably go back and read the first two. I found the protagonist, Olive, to be a smart and likable sleuth. The focus on Egyptian artifacts was interesting as well. I even did a bit of research afterwards.

I'm enjoying some audio grilling on this toasty evening. There's nothing like a high society murder mystery to make you want veggie kabobs.😊

Trashcanman Looks yummy 5y
TK421 @Trashcanman they turned out pretty good. I didn't show the nearly burned chicken in the photo.😄 5y
