THIS is what we deserve in a sequel. This was so intense and i couldnt put it down. Nina is such an amazing, warped, fascinating character

Just as dark and gritty and the first one, I loved the plot and the constant action, the mystery and constant fear of betrayal was so well written. I absolutely loved the character development of Nita and Kovit, and their dynamic just improved throughout the book. It was such a good balance of dark themes and funny scenes. Overall it was amazing and I can't wait to read the 3rd one❤
This series is not for the faint hearted.
"All lives are hard. But some leave you alive, and some leave you dead"
-Nita from Only Ashes Remain
"I am not a good person. But I am a person. I make my own choices"
-Kovit from Only Ashes Remain by Rebecca Scheaffner
I honestly think this just built on the first book and was equally as good, if not better!! I loved how much Nita and Kovit we got in this book, I love how those two interact with each other. I think this book much like the first is a beautiful blend of plot and character, neither feels overdone or neglected. There's so much action that it keeps the book moving quickly, but also really brilliant character interactions!
She didn't want to know the darkest part of Kovit's soul. Didn't want to strip him of his secrets. His secrets were his to share or not. And sometimes people didn't need to know every part of each other's lives intimately.
⤏ MARKET OF MONSTERS #2
Our morally gray characters have started second-guessing themselves a lot...Nita more so than Kovit. She did a lot of soul-searching throughout this book. Eventually, she just decided...f*ck it...and did what had to be done, and thank goodness because it was starting to feel like I was caught up in a self-imposed therapy session.

Only Ashes Remain did not disappoint! I loved the development of Kovit and Nitas relationship and how Rebecca Schaefer explores “good” and “evil”. My biggest complaint was how she shoe horned in racism issues.. It felt unnatural and had me break immersion a few times. #creatures #kelpies #monsters
YAS! Sequel to Not Even Bones, a truly fucked up book. #horror #dissection #monsters

Only Ashes remain was just supposed to be a galley so it was a pleasant surprise to get a finished copy.
