El último Dickens
El último Dickens | Matthew Pearl
5 posts | 22 read | 13 to read
The New York Times «Irresistible... Admirable.» The Observer

I liked the historical fiction aspect of this, combined with the mystery, but I just couldn‘t keep my full attention on the audio. The story felt a little bogged down with detail and dragged, although it did pick up near the end. I probably would‘ve enjoyed this more if I had a better knowledge of Dickens and had read more of his books.

Looks like Dorian will miss us, but school is already cancelled for Tuesday! Guess I just have to pencil in some more reading!

I'm not sure that this was the best #24in48 pick, since my hourly page averages are abysmal, but I needed to read it for a book club. I loved learning about a time when authors were the biggest celebrities, but the book felt somehow soulless. It got reeeaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyy long about 2/3 of the way through. @24in48

When your boss gives you a book recommend and someone says you have too many books/too many books to read.
