A terrible darkness has fallen upon Jacob Weiszs beloved Germany. The Nazi regime, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has surged to power and now hold Germany by the throat. All non-Aryansespecially Jews like Jacob and his familyare treated like dogs. When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins rebel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong, Jacob finds himself in a living nightmaretrapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp. As World War II rages and Hitler begins implementing his final solution to systematically and ruthlessly exterminate the Jewish people, Jacob must rely on his wits and a God hes not sure he believes in to somehow escape from Auschwitz and alert the world to the Nazis atrocities before Fascism overtakes all of Europe. The fate of millions hangs in the balance.

Mehso-so

This was not the best WWII book I‘ve read but it wasn‘t the worst either. It could have been about 200 pages shorter if the author hadn‘t been so repetitive. The characters weren‘t well developed and while the writing wasn‘t horrible it wasn‘t great either. 🤷‍♀️

4th book for #widehorizonsreadathon @Emilymdxn

Last night I finished The Auschwitz Escape last night. I obviously knew how it was going to end, but it was still very heart breaking. I liked that it was a mix of fact and fiction mixed throughout.

Big brother and I went to the thrift store and picked up some new books. Here‘s today‘s haul!

This is one of the most difficult book I've read. The atrocities of the #holocaust was shocking. The persecution of #Jews was appaling. But the determination and the will of Jacob Weisz to escape so he could let the world know about these death camps was encouraging. The escape was intense! This book was well researched and well written. #WWII #historicalfiction #history #auschwitz #nazi #germany #warsaw #poland

I am so glad I started keeping track of my reading using a journal this year. Combined with Litsy, I've been pushed to read more and found books I never would have given a second glance before. This list of ten books is what I read from January through June. In August alone I read 11! #underthelitfluence

britt_brooke Love this! 8y

[DELETED] 2232195534 Keeping a book journal is a great thing. I've loved going and looking at what I read last year or 20 years ago! Don't think you will regret it and it just takes a minute. 😀 8y

Leslie #underthelitfluence I have left books open around the house so my kids will not be able to resist. Always works. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag Yes! Book journals are the best! I love looking back on what reading phases I've been through. 8y
erinreads I've been actively using Goodreads since 2011 and I love to see my progress over the years. I've started keeping an actual book journal to track book purchases and reads now too because why not? Hahaha. 8y
jessberk13 @erinreads I used to use GR too, but since Litsy came out I've totally abandoned it. I'm only using this app and my journal now! 8y
QuintusMarcus Check out Instagram, Twitter, et al, and search for bullet journal and books--journaling is such a huge thing, now! I used to just use Evernote for all my book notes, but now I am more inclined to take notes in a physical notebook. Just seems more real, I guess. 8y
MyNamesParadise @erinreads I should keep a journal of my book purchases! I've always kept one for books I've read (started in 2006 when I was 14) but sometimes I forget what books I have! 8y

Computer finished updating and I finished the book!! What an amazing story. So heartbreaking and emotional. Took everything I have not to cry at my desk during the epilogue.
