Pickpick

Listen, this is a Pick because I got to read sentences crafted by Ray Bradbury.

That being said, it lacked the narrative cohesion of Dandelion Wine which had its vignettes tied together by checking in on Douglas and Tom after each chapter.

This collection of stories that mostly return to Dandelion Wine‘s Green Town, Illinois is lovely, but felt a bit slight, like reading the deleted scenes from that greater work.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk @vivastory Yes and it is an all-time favorite! The movie is good too, even though the budget couldn‘t buy a cheeseburger. 5y

“Do you know why they put those kissing scenes in films? They can‘t think of anything to say that means anything... You‘ll see more real love in the popcorn man‘s cat and her kittens than you‘ll ever buy for a dime at the show. Don‘t let it fool you. The kiss is just the first note of the first bar, played by a piccolo. What follows is either a symphony or a riot, everyone trying to get out the door.”

I don't recall ever reading a Ray Bradbury story.

Thanks @cinfhen @vivastory 😊

AlaMich His story, “The Veldt,” was a standout for me. We had to read it in seventh grade and it‘s always stuck with me. He wrote some amazing stories. 6y
