lalba a Marinella e il sonno di Montalbano viene interrotto dal canto di un usignolo. O almeno cos pare al commissario, salvo poi scoprire che si tratta del fischiettare di un vagabondo che ha trovato rifugio nella verandina durante un temporale di fine estate. Un barbone sui generis per, perch parla un italiano perfetto e si vede che ha conosciuto tempi migliori. Confessa di abitare in una grotta poco distante ma non c tempo di approfondire la questione perch Montalbano deve correre in commissariato dove Catarella gli annuncia lassassinio del ragionier Cosimo Barletta. Nel villino lungo la strada che costeggia il mare nessun segno di effrazione, nessuna traccia di lotta: luomo stato colpito alla nuca da un colpo di pistola mentre seduto in cucina stava bevendo un caff. Montalbano indaga sui segreti impenetrabili di una famiglia e sui misteri di una comunit.

Book 21 of series, 3 more left, makes me very sad. Do you ever get so involved with a series that you wonder what the people are doing between stories, as if they are real? Salvo finds a body, the man was dead from poison before someone shot him. How did that even happen? Add a beautiful woman, a hobo, and sicilian cuisine, enter the world of Montalbano. ❤❤❤❤

Crazeedi @StayCurious I can tell you I fell in love with it. The first 16 books I listened to from library on overdrive, then I had to get the rest. Once you get used to the speaker, it's great how he mimics different characters voices. So his voice was in my head threading the physical books! 5y

Another cracking read in the Inspector Montalbano Series. An interesting mystery this one, and cunningly no police work as always by Montalbano!

Back in Sicily with Inspector Montalbano. This one is a mystery with a truly dark heart. It kept me guessing. I'm glad to say the Inspector seems to be getting over his midlife crisis, his behaviour was a lot less erratic than it has been in some of the recent books in the series.

Mehso-so

"A Nest of Vipers" was an enjoyable and easy read but I wasn't wowed with my first experience of the Commissario Montalbano series. I'm pretty sure something has got lost in the translation from Italian to English but it's still quirky, fun and mostly light-hearted, getting 3 stars from me.
