Christians in the Age of Outrage
Christians in the Age of Outrage: How to Bring Our Best When the World Is at Its Worst | Ed Stetzer
2 posts | 2 read
Are you tired of reading another news story about Christians supposedly acting at their worst? Today there are too many examples of those claiming to follow Christ being caustic, divisive, and irrational, contributing to dismissals of the Christian faith as hypocritical, self-interested, and politically co-opted. What has happened in our society? One short outrageous video, whether it is true or not, can trigger an avalanche of comments on social media. Welcome to the new age of outrage. In this groundbreaking book featuring new survey research of evangelicals and their relationship to the age of outrage, Ed Stetzer offers a constructive way forward. You won’t want to miss Ed’s insightful analysis of our chaotic age, his commonsensical understanding of the cultural currents, and his compelling challenge to Christians to live in a refreshingly different way.

I've recently bailed on Wendy Speake's 40-day Social Media Fast. Social Media addiction is monster. Ed Stetzer's approach is a little more tough-love. First, we take responsibility for the fact that it's trolls like us that are stinking up the interwebs in the first place. How do we conduct ourselves to be less offended and less offensive? Caveat: This is a very Christian and even a conservative perspective but it still spoke to me.

Good book with much to say about living in an age of outrage. It was very thoughtful and research based. It has many helpful suggestions for application. It may have gotten a little long in the end. I pushed through and appreciated it overall.

Schnoebs Do you think this would be interesting to someone who doesn‘t actually practice Christianity? 5y
CRR Good question, I think the author does a good job of looking at different sides of things and pointing out mistakes that all of us can make. I think it would present a good picture of how authentic followers of Christ are called to live like Jesus. 5y
