They call it the Academy. A secluded, cliff-top mansion overlooking the rugged Pacific coast. A school for children gifted -- or cursed -- with extraordinary minds. Children soon to come under the influence of an intelligence even more brilliant than their own -- and unspeakably evil. For within this mind a dark plan is taking form. A plan so horrifying, no one will believe it. No one but the children.

Chrissyreadit John Saul has been around forever. 6y
JoScho @Chrissyreadit yeah he has. I have never read any of his books. 6y
Chrissyreadit What??? I devoured them in high school but have no actual memory of them- did you like this one? 6y
Reggie @Chrissyreadit I read like 3 of his books and in every one I read the child/kid protagonist dies. They were good but no happy endings here. 6y
Chrissyreadit @Reggie yeah- I think in HS I was ok with dark and creepy - I loved horror - but once I had kids I couldn‘t do it anymore. This year is my first time engaging in the genre since then and my teens are 15 and 17. I‘m sure I would not like John Saul now. (edited) 5y

Well, this book was fun! It was the perfect horror beach read. It had some truly cringeworthy lines that made me laugh out loud. I loved it! If you are a person like me who does not like romance but wants a light, beach read...this book is it. Campy horror at its best 😊 #MountTBR

At first, I thought this was labeled incorrectly and really wasn't a horror book but bam! Yeah that was frightening.
